Hello and a very Happy New Year to you all! 2018 has come and gone and we’re off into 2019 now! Some of our team are lucky enough to live right on the South coast and enjoyed a beautiful New Year’s Day walk in the sunshine.

But we also know some of you had a bit of a cloudy or drizzly day, and it got us thinking how we may take the sunshine and light for granted in the Summer, but desperately miss it (sometimes without even realising) in the Winter months.

Before we dive into the wonderful world of light, let’s take a few minutes to see why these lights are so useful and some considerations you may have before buying one.
Having good quality light when you work brings no end of benefits:
- They decrease the likelihood of eye strain, tired eyes or headaches, meaning you can work for longer doing what you love in comfort
- Daylight lamps tend to give a colder and whiter light compared to normal household lighting. This gives you ‘true’ light to help ensure your colours and finishes work together harmoniously
- Most of our lights are portable and can be adjusted to angle your light where you need it most, eliminating shadows and glare
- Some of our lights clip directly onto your table, worktop, nearby shelf etc, so if you’re short of space they won’t impact on your work area
- Having added magnification is always a boon when working on detailed projects. You can see your work much more clearly, especially when working with dark thread, clear beads or tiny crystals (or have to do the dreaded unpicking.. noooooo!!!). Those complex tasks or fiddly jobs will now seem much more appealing!
We would always suggest buying as good a lamp as you can afford (or maybe even two, depending on your work space), as your eye health is paramount to your enjoyment and continuation of your favourite hobbies.
